Lab work orders

Manage the work with your dental lab: create work orders, track them by status (new, in progress, finished) and, if you want, give the lab its own login so it sees only its orders.

Available on every plan. Front desk, Doctor, Assistant and Admin can create orders; the Lab role can also get in, but only to this section.

Create an order

1. Go to Lab in the menu and click ＋ New order.
2. Choose the Patient (search by name or phone) and the Doctor who needs it.
3. Pick the Work to be done from the catalog, or type a new one with "➕ Other".
4. Choose the Lab (or add a new one).
5. Set the received date and the due date.
6. In Notes write everything else: color/shade, material and instructions. Click save.

Each order gets a yearly folio (for example OL-2026-0001).

There are no separate "material" or "color" fields: those details go in the order's Notes field.

Track by status

Orders are organized into three tabs: New, In progress and Finished, each with its own counter. On each card you move the status forward with ▶ Mark in progress and ✓ Mark finished (and you can ↩ Reopen a finished one).

If the due date passes and the order isn't finished, it's flagged in red as ⚠ OVERDUE.

Each order can be 🖨️ printed (A5 sheet with the clinic logo, the work details and a received-signature line), ✏️ edited or 🗑 deleted.

Give the lab access

If your lab (in-house or external) wants to see its orders straight in the system, create a user with the Lab role: they'll see only the Lab section, with a notice of how many new orders there are, and nothing else in the system. See Users, roles & multi-location.

Recommendation

Record the actual due date agreed with the lab: that way the board warns you about what's about to be due and keeps a case from getting stuck.
