Prescriptions

Issue medical prescriptions from the patient record: list the medicines in a structured way, add the diagnosis and the instructions, and generate a prescription with a folio, an electronic seal and the option of the doctor's signature, ready to print or save as a PDF carrying your clinic's branding.

Available on every plan. The Admin, Front desk, Doctor and Assistant can create them (the Lab role has no access).

Issuing a prescription

1. Open the patient record and go to the 💊 Prescriptions tab.
2. Press ＋ New prescription.
3. Choose the Doctor (their license number fills in automatically) and check the Professional license number.
4. Write the Diagnosis (optional).
5. Add one or more Medicines, each with its name, dose/presentation, frequency and duration. Use ＋ Add medicine for more rows.
6. Write the General instructions (optional) and press Create prescription.

Each prescription gets a yearly sequential folio (for example RX-2026-0001) and is saved in the patient's record.

The patient's details on the sheet

Top right go the record number, the name, the date of birth and the age. The date comes out the way it's written by hand in Mexico: 15/03/1983.

If the patient has no date of birth on file, or the one on file doesn't exist in the calendar, the line isn't printed: better blank than a false detail on a prescription. Same goes for the record number and the age.

The date of birth is only on the prescription. The lab work order, the quote and the consent form don't carry it.

The doctor's professional license number

The license number is stored once per doctor in Admin → Users, in the field Professional license number (appears on prescriptions). When you pick the doctor on the prescription, the license fills in automatically (you can still edit it there if you need to). See Users, roles & permissions.

The doctor's signature

Every prescription carries two signature safeguards:

• Automatic electronic signature: on creation, the system stamps it with the date, the time and a seal (hash) of the content. If the text were to change, the seal would no longer match — that's the proof the prescription wasn't altered. Nothing for you to do.
• Handwritten signature (optional): press the ✍️ button on the prescription to draw the signature with a finger or the mouse and save it. It prints above the doctor's name.

Print or save as PDF

Press 🖨️ to open the printable version (A5 size). It includes your clinic's logo and details, the sanitary operating notice (COFEPRIS, the Mexican health authority), the sanitary officer and their license, the folio, the patient, the diagnosis, the table of medicines, the instructions and the signature with its electronic seal. From the browser dialog you can print it or save it as a PDF.

The prescription isn't sent on its own by WhatsApp or email: you print it or save the PDF and hand it to the patient.

Notes

• The folio is unique per year and per clinic; it's never reused.
• If the doctor has no license number loaded in Users, type it in at the moment of writing the prescription.
• Prescriptions for controlled medicines are handled on the official physical prescription pad, outside the system.
